The building of the motorway involves the design and construction of the 18.5km road from Puhoi to Warkworth, which consists of four lanes from the Johnstone Hills tunnels to the north of Warkworth, which will be the first section of the Ara Tuhono. Caledonia provided a range of access solutions to NX2 including falsework, propping, bridge deck and handrail systems to a number of piers, abutments and viaducts. The use of a craneable Layher system enabled modules to be built at ground level, reducing working at heights as well as improving efficiency on-site in a challenging environment.
