JIM CUNNINGHAM

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Jim Cunningham has two decades of experience as Managing Director of one of Australia’s largest privately owned scaffolding companies. As well as acute business acumen, he is particularly experienced in advanced rigging & scaffolding, mechanical building & construction all within the oil, gas & mining sectors. He has personally worked for Transfield Services, McDow, Amec, Baulderstone Hornibrook, ABB, Simon Carves, Ottoway Engineering and many more.

Jim’s forte is finding the smartest solutions. During his time at Caledonia, he helped win contracts on many billion-dollar infrastructure projects including Adelaide Superway, Adelaide Desalination Plant, NRAH and Chevron’s Gorgon Project on Barrow Island.

Jim has a Diploma in Leadership & Management and high-risk licences in advanced scaffolding, rigging & crane operation (60T).

DAVID STEPHEN

MANAGING DIRECTOR

With more than twenty fours years of leadership and management experience under his belt in both public and private sectors, David has drawn on the experiences he has gained to carefully lead and manage Caledonia Group through more than twelve years of successful targeted growth. In line with his personal values, David takes a clear and straightforward approach to managing the business. Starting with a single entity in South Australia that provided a scaffolding service only, David has led Caledonia Group through several phases of growth, where each phase presented its own unique challenges. Today, Caledonia Group comprises five separate entities spread between Western Australia, New South Wales, South Australia and New Zealand, employs approximately 450 staff and is on a steady trajectory to reach $100 million turnover. Services today include, scaffolding, insulation and cladding, design & engineering, predominantly in the mining, industrial and oil & gas sectors.

The growth of Caledonia Group required continual re-structuring of the organisation, whilst implementing many business and performance improvements along the way, particularly in relation to accounting, banking and business diversification. Priding himself on integrity and always providing the best service to clients, David believes in bringing people with you rather than forging ahead on his own and several of Caledonia’s current leaders and managers have grown with the business over the years and are now embedded in senior positions. However, when the Group needs new talent, David also believes in bringing in key people in key positions at the right time and place.

To assist with the challenges of growing a business, David undertook further study and completed a Master of Business Administration degree, specialising in strategic business planning and strategic human resources management. This sparked the development of Caledonia Groups Advisory Board (2015), in line with good corporate governance principles for privately owned businesses and led to the development of Caledonia’s Strategic Plan. The strategic plan is refreshed annually, and to this day is the keystone for continual safe and successful growth and is the driver of performance.

David also provides his strategic insight and expertise to another organisation, Sunrise Ag Group, through his position on the Advisory Board. Sunrise Ag Group is a large privately owned group of farm machinery dealerships with locations in Mildura, Renmark, Berri, Ouyen, Griffith and Swan Hill.
When David is not focused on work, he can be found spending time with friends and family and enjoys leading a balanced lifestyle at his home in South Australia.

MIK KIRASIC

MANAGING DIRECTOR – NEW ZEALAND

Mik has over 32 years of experience in scaffolding, falsework (propping) and industrial services industries (including insulation and coatings) in both Australia and New Zealand. He is familiar with residential, commercial, civil, and numerous industrial markets including the food industry, mining and petro-chemical.

Mik’s career commenced in South Australia, where he put himself through his tertiary studies in civil engineering by working part time in the formwork and scaffolding industry. He entered this industry full time once he finished his studies. Mik furthered his career by traveling throughout Australia and New Zealand in various senior positions which focused on building new businesses and improving existing operations. Mik is now a long-term resident of New Zealand where he works as a Managing Director with Caledonia.

BRETT LEAVER

GENERAL MANAGER ACCESS DIVISION

Brett is a highly experienced trade specialist with 17 years’ experience in the construction industry. Since 2009, Brett has managed and safely executed numerous multi-million dollar projects across Australia working directly for Caledonia. Brett has successfully worked his way through the ranks from a scaffolding supervisor, to superintendent, to company operations manager, and is currently the General Manager Access Division.

Brett has completed a Diploma of Project Management and an Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management.

BRYN JONES

GROUP BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Bryn joined Caledonia in March 2016 as Business Development Manager, SA. His experience in Sales and Business Development extends across multiple industries over 20 years both in the UK and since arriving in Adelaide in 2007. Since joining the company, Bryn has developed his role to a national level, coordinating a team of Business Development Managers across Caledonia’s various locations and industrial service sectors.

Bryn has the overall responsibility for delivering Caledonia’s growth strategy, ensuring both growth initiatives and business as usual activities are aligned and delivered to achieve optimum results. Coupled with the investment and promotion of innovative solutions through design and engineering capabilities, this has further positioned Caledonia as an industry leader in this field.

Melissa Burridge 

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

Melissa joined Caledonia in March 2019 as Human Resources Manager.  Melissa is a seasoned HR professional with ten plus years’ experience working at a senior level driving the execution of people strategies that support organisational objectives. With experience in building high performing teams, Melissa is well versed in all areas of HR including industrial relations, HR systems, organisational development and talent acquisition.  Whilst most of Melissa’s career has involved working with companies with multiple sites and office locations, joining Caledonia was her first foray into the broader construction industry.  Melissa holds a Bachelor of Management in Human Resources Management from the University of South Australia.

Paul Arnould

General Manager – Industrial Division

Paul joined Caledonia in 2021 and brings extensive experience from a wide range of operational, management and leadership roles held over nearly 20 years in the contracting industry. Paul’s areas of expertise are broad and encompass a wide variety of industrial services from insulation and cladding through to protective coatings, rope access services and scaffolding. Since starting his industrial career in Australia, Paul has demonstrated a passion for health and safety, project management training and development of constructive corporate cultures within the businesses he has worked in. These activities have all led Paul into various forms of higher education and professional development which have assisted him in managing businesses locally, at a state and national level and also overseas in the Asia Pacific region. Paul’s experience spans mining and refining, petrochemical, oil and gas both onshore and offshore, power generation, minerals and metals.
