Onehunga

Project Details:

  • We were asked to create a weather curtain via scaffolding inside an existing live warehouse.
  • The purpose was to demolish the adjoining warehouse and wall. This also provided some level of security.
  • We designed a 2m wide scaffold structure, 150m long and 9m high, that needed to withstand wind loads facing directly to Onehunga harbour. The structure has bracing in both directions on every leg and each leg fixed to the slab with mechanical fixings. We hoarded with 18mm ply up to 2.4m on both sides of the structure for security, then outside face was covered with shrink wrap. A timber batten was caulked to the slab and bottom of the ply to negate sideways rain seeping under into the live tenancy. This structure will be in place for approx. 16months. This helped our client to allow the continued running of the neighbouring plant whilst the demo and rebuild goes on.
