Location: South Australia
Project Type: Scaffolding
In Following on from Caledonia’s success at Port Bonython Jetty, Baulderstone engaged Caledonia to assist with construction works on the Southern Expressway Duplication Project.
The $407.5 million duplication of the Southern Expressway is a key part of the development of Adelaide’s north-south corridor and, when complete, will deliver an 18.5 kilometre multi-lane, two-way expressway between Bedford Park and Old Noarlunga by mid-2014.
Numerous scaffolds have been erected and dismantled, including four free standing towers at Smith Creek Bridge with an approximate height of 24m weighing 90 tonnes. These scaffolds were designed by our in-house design team. As with the Urban Superway, most of the scaffold was erected in the vicinity of free flowing traffic. In September 2012 Caledonia’s achievements were acknowledged in the form of a safety award and recognition for ‘thinking outside the box’.
