Location: South Australia
Project Type: Scaffolding
In Caledonia was the only choice to complete the high risk scaffolding works during the Port Bonython Jetty refurbishment.
The refurbishment of the Jetty links to the South Australian Strategic Plan objectives of economic growth, total exports and strategic infrastructure and is another example of Caledonia being heavily involved in a significant project.
The works consisted of providing 24hr access and working platforms along the entire length of the 2.4km long jetty. All scaffold had to be engineered and proof engineered to assess the effect on the structure of the jetty. This involved the supply of strong but light weight scaffolding in some sections that was also capable of withstanding the harsh conditions at sea.
The job was technically challenging, but Caledonia’s experienced scaffold and management team overcame all obstacles thrown at them. The main scaffold built on the structure was a 1650m2 hanging scaffold underneath the jetty head which was built without incident by six of Caledonia’s most experienced men. Other technical work included building light weight scaffold along walkways that spanned up to 60m.
