We’re officially halfway through 2019—and what a busy six months it’s been here at Caledonia. Each month has brought new challenges, achievements and great success stories, so we can’t wait to see what the rest of this year holds! Check out everything that we’ve been up to in June below.
Members of the Caledonia BD team were delighted to attend the 2019 Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) Conference in Brisbane recently.
This provided a great opportunity to meet with both existing and new clients whilst gaining a greater insight into current and existing projects across the country.
Caledonia have received a welcome visit from Stuart Batchelor from TQCSI. Stuart visited our Adelaide Head Office to present directors Jim Cunningham and David Stephen with an award to recognise the company becoming a member of the TQCSI 10 Year Club.
Caledonia is extremely proud to have achieved this status and looks forward to the ongoing relationship with TQCSI as we continue to expand our operations across Australia, New Zealand and beyond.
TQCSI has grown into one of the world’s leading certification bodies, now with more than 7500 certified clients in 40 countries throughout the world.
Insulation & Cladding
Our I&C team have been busy working on the transformation of another vessel for a new WA client. The vessel was completed using RockTech matting and .8 316 2B stainless steel cladding. The job was completed within the tight time constraints in order to assist with the decommissioning of the existing module onsite. All works were completed in our Gnangara yard with a terrific end result.
Caledonia Trainees: Where are they now?
Samuel Upston mobilised to the Minara Resources Murrin Murrin site two weeks ago. This was his first industrial site since passing his Intermediate Scaffold course, as he nears the end of his traineeship.
Reports from the scaffold crews and the supervisors have praised Sam’s work ethic and safety awareness on site. This is paramount to our industry and further proof that Caledonia’s traineeship program is achieving its long-term goals.
Young men like Sam are an integral part of the future of Caledonia’s work force and it’s fantastic to see them embarking on a career in the scaffolding industry.
Innovative Scaffold Design
A unique and challenging access solution has been provided to a Tier 1 contractor for access to a CBD high rise. The materials hoist and cantilevered access platform has allowed maintenance works to be carried out in levels 6 and 7.
Access was limited through the building as tenants are in place.
Great work by George Baiju, Scaffold Design Engineer and Shaun Rice, Leading Hand.
Hindmarsh Construction, Light Square
Caledonia have produced front and rear 10 KPA rated Gantry and Hoarding to support 45 meters of scaffold facade works to the building face in Light Square.
Leading hand John Stone and his crew have produced a range of engineered structures onsite to date in a prime city location, where great thought and detail has been required surrounding public access and local foot traffic.
Project Update: Puhoi to Warkworth, NX2 Group (Fletcher Acciona)
Caledonia has been awarded the falsework for the Puhoi bridge crossheads, based on a design and build concept using our Layher scaffold system.
We supplied our client (NX2 – Accionia / Fletcher JV) with engineering, design, materials and labour, enabling the team to erect the structure in less than a week. A notable difference in erection time when compared to Pier F which we built using the Peri system!
Waste Management, East Tamaki (Haydn & Rollett)
These images show some weatherproofing, access stairs and loading platform for Haydn & Rollett at their Waste Management site in East Tamaki, Auckland.
All the H&R site management team have been more than satisfied with the design, safety, and service supplied by our team, much to the credit of Joe Matiaha, for his professionalism and making the client feel special.
Since our arrival on site, we have been awarded extra roof edge protection rails and various access scaffolds throughout the site. Good work team, thanks for your efforts!
