Cross River Rail is a groundbreaking project that aims to bring Queensland into a new era of public transportation. Our scaffolding team at Caledonia have been honoured contractors since the early phases of the project in 2022 and will continue to work on this venture until its expected opening in 2026.
The aim of the Cross River Rail development is to introduce a new 10.2km rail line with 5.9km of twin tunnels branching under the Brisbane River and CBD. These plans will not only revolutionise Queensland public transport, but also significantly contribute to the improvement of our green space and carbon footprint.
Cross River Rail Inclusions:
- 4 new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street, and Roma Street
- 8 rebuilt stations from Salisbury to Dutton Park and Exhibition Station
- 3 new Gold Coast Stations at Pimpama, Hope Island, and Merrimac

How This Project Promises a Better Tomorrow:
The Cross River Rail project promises benefits ranging from economic growth to journey improvements. Economically, it’s predicted that approximately 35 000 jobs will be created as a byproduct of this project. Further, it’s predicted that these new precincts will generate direct and indirect benefits of between $15 billion and $20 billion per annum of Gross State Product. Estimations suggest that this will occur over a 20–30-year timeframe. After the completion of the project, we expect to see as many as 24 trains running in each direction to help significantly reduce travel time and decrease congestion.
